From Murray  Last Sunday I was talking about the need to share in Jesus passion if we are to fully experience the joy of his resurrection.  We all naturally recoil from the horror of the cross but with God’s help we can allow ourselves to share in something of what Jesus went through.  It may be our experiences in life can also help us to share Jesus experience for we are often called to follow him in his suffering.  For the last couple of years we have taken time to reflect on Jesus passion by meditating on Jana’s ‘station of the cross’ pictures.  This worked extremely well last year when we focussed on the first half on Tuesday and the second on Wednesday.  The mood will be lighter on Thursday for Passover, though we will be powerfully reminded of the roots of Communion in the escape from Egypt.  On Friday we will return to Jesus  passion as we hear again the gospel narrative, this year from Matthew.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning last week and worked so hard on Spring Cleaning the whole of the church in readiness for all our Easter Services and activities!

A WARM WELCOME to the family and friends of Isabelle  who is being baptised at St Paul’s today.

From Murray  I am just back from a lovely service at Holmwood.  It was great to have so many from St Paul’s there to support the singing and to chat to the residents.  As ever Konrad was working hard to help those who are less well to feel included and part of the worship.  One of the things we did was to share the signs of spring that we had noticed.  We ended up with a really good list – prompted in part by the daffodils on the windowsills and primula in tubs set out for us on the table. Signs of spring are all around us, but just as spring only comes  after the cold, dark days of winter so our joy at Jesus’ resurrection only come after sharing with him the pain of his journey to the cross.
