DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES: PRAYER DAY 2013
On Saturday 14th September from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm,
St Paul’s will be holding a Prayer Day “Meeting God in the Natural World” at Longshaw Moorland Discovery Centre (which is close to Fox House on the A6187 Hathersage to Owler Bar Road, or can be found on your Sat Nav at S11 7TZ).

The cost is £5.00 each, (as long as 18 people attend the day). This includes drinks, but not lunch or car parking. The day will include time for silent prayer and will end with a simple Communion Service.  Because there is only one room, we are very sorry, but it will not be possible to provide separate activities for children. If you think you might be interested, please complete a form and give it to Murray before Sunday 11th August.  Thank you.

PEEKABOO HELPERS Thank you to all who have done such a great job helping with refreshments throughout the school year.  Thanks also to church members who have given their time to welcome & talk to those who come to Peekaboo, culminating in a successful party last week.  Peekaboo is back at St Paul’s on Wednesday 4th September; there’s a copy of the new refreshments rota inside the tall cupboard in the main kitchen. As before, please see Liz Whitwam if you’d like to join the Peekaboo refreshment makers list.

Please get in touch with the new leaders if you would like to help with toy washing & replacing batteries on 28th August - telephone & email contact details in “What’s on.”

MOTHERS’ UNION
THE MARY SUMNER DAY SERVICE will be held at Doncaster Minster on Friday 9th August at 2pm.
MOTHERS’ UNION SUNDAY on 8th September is a day of prayer for the work of the Mothers’ Union. Please pray for our work & ministry in our diocese & throughout the world.
DIARIES & CALENDARS FOR 2014 Please order your diary or calendar for next year from Jacqui as soon as possible.
‘FAMILIES FIRST’ - REMINDER Payment for your magazine subscription is now due. Please pay Jacqui this week.

CHRISTMAS! If you are interested in joining a bell ringing team to perform at the Christmas Tree Festival on Saturday 23rd November, please contact Jacqui and be prepared for at least 8 practices.
Date for your diary:  there will be another planning meeting for the Christmas Tree Festival on Monday 9th September in the Old Vestry at 2.30 pm.

CHURCH BBQ – date for your diary - This year’s Summer BBQ will be held on Friday 30th August. More details to follow later.

NORTON LEES RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION - PUBLIC MEETING next week, on Wednesday 7th August at 7.30 pm at the Bishops’ House. This meeting will be an Extraordinary General Meeting to determine the future of NoLRA. Whilst we have not had a public meeting for some time, we feel it is important to keep the group together even when there are few important issues to address. That way, when the estate does face a problem, NoLRA is in a position to fight on the residents’ behalf. In order to continue positively, NoLRA needs volunteer members. It doesn’t take much effort, so please come and say hello at the meeting.

NORTON LEES LOCAL HISTORY GROUP “The Suffragette, the Silversmith and the Sheik’s Creator – three local women’s tales” with Ann Beedham on Tuesday 10th September at 7.30 pm in the Old Vestry. (No meeting in August.)

Mike’s Ministry:
Sun 28th – St Paul’s 10.00 am H.C.
Sun 4th – St Paul’s Baptism Service

From Murray
From last week: Someone has asked about the next Questions! Questions! series.  I would like to lead one after this year’s Back to Church Sunday service which is on the 29th September at 10 am.  The idea is that we invite our friends and relatives to this special service, and if they like what they experience they might like to go on to attend QQ.
My preference would be to run the autumn QQ series on Wednesday evenings, but I could run them on Thursday evenings if people wanted.  So if you would like to be part of an autumn QQ please let me know.
Unfortunately I am not free each Wednesday or Thursday in that time, so on either night the series would have to run into December to include the full eight weeks.
This week: Please pray for us at PCC on Tuesday – it is an important meeting when Revd Karen Cribb will come to hear our views on forming Mission Partnerships!
